Job Description

We seek a dynamic, team-oriented individual to serve as an IT and Cybersecurity Instructor. The Technical Instructor will play a pivotal role in our organization's mission as they train Maverick students to be outstanding entry and mid-level security practitioners. This role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual with exceptional communication, administrative, and teaching skills.

Responsibilities

  • Using a structured and approved curriculum, conduct a hybrid cycle of technical training to prepare students for entry to mid-level jobs in the field of IT and Cybersecurity.
  • Technical training competencies include but are not limited to: Networking, Cloud computing, Cybersecurity, Programming, and System administration.
  • Ability to travel to offer technical trainings offshore
  • Collaborate with Instructional designer to design and develop instructional materials, including e-learning/self-paced modules, instructor-led training materials, hands-on lab activities, job aids and assessments.
  • The curriculum calls for a maximum of 2.5 hours of teaching per day. The rest of the time is dedicated to preparing videos for interactive, hands-on lab activities which are led by the Technical Instructor.
  • Class sizes range from 12-24 students.
  • Facilitate in a highly interactive, hands-on style.
  • Utilize in-house Learning Management System for assignments, tests, and real-time performance monitoring
  • Manage and appropriately utilize a teaching assistant
  • Maintain regular office hours to support students’ questions
  • Conduct needs assessments and evaluate the effectiveness of training programs to make continuous improvements.
  • Stay current with industry trends and advancements in training.

Skills and Qualifications

Skills & Qualification
  • BA/BS University degree in Computers or its equivalent is preferred
  • Expert-level knowledge and experience in the following competencies: server management, hardware, software, networking, mobility, virtualization, project management, and security
  • Network+ CompTIA Security+ certified are strongly desired
  • Must have some teaching experience, preferably with adults in an online environment.
  • Proficient in TCP/IP networking and networking protocols as well as Microsoft Windows and Linux operating systems including console/terminal usage
  • Familiarity with Linux, Windows Server Environments, Firewalls, Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems, Penetration Testing, and Vulnerability Assessment is required
  • At least two years of professional experience in the tech industry in a security role
  • Ability to teach in a highly interactive and hands-on style
  • Ability to commit to individual performance goals on certification and placement
  • Flexibility to adapt to continuous changes in the curriculum (needed to stay current in the industry)

 

Fluency in written and spoken English is required.
