LABUSA is seeking a Senior Drupal Developer to design, develop, enhance, troubleshoot, and maintain enterprise Drupal websites.
The position involves hands-on development of Drupal modules, themes, integrations, content management functionality, migrations, application upgrades, security patches, and performance improvements.
The successful candidate will work with Drupal architects, accessibility specialists, and LABUSA infrastructure personnel to deliver secure, responsive, accessible, and maintainable web applications.
This is a remote, project-based opportunity for independent Drupal professionals with substantial hands-on development experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain Drupal 10 websites and applications.
- Design and implement custom Drupal modules, plugins, themes, and reusable components.
- Develop application functionality using PHP, Symfony, Twig, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Configure content types, taxonomies, Views, Webforms, Paragraphs, Layout Builder, and editorial workflows.
- Implement responsive, mobile-friendly website designs and reusable templates.
- Develop REST API, JSON:API, and third-party application integrations.
- Support Drupal core and contributed module updates.
- Assist with Drupal 11 compatibility assessments, upgrades, and migration activities.
- Perform content, media, user, configuration, and database migrations.
- Implement secure user authentication, permissions, and access controls.
- Troubleshoot application defects, compatibility issues, and production incidents.
- Optimize database queries, caching, search, and application performance.
- Implement security patches and remediate identified application vulnerabilities.
- Develop accessible website functionality consistent with WCAG 2.1 AA requirements.
- Participate in Git-based development, peer reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows.
- Prepare deployment packages and support testing, staging, and production releases.
- Perform regression testing, integration testing, and user acceptance testing support.
- Maintain technical documentation, configuration records, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Coordinate with LABUSA technical personnel on deployments, maintenance, and incident resolution.
- Participate in technical meetings and knowledge-transfer sessions.

- Minimum five years of demonstrated professional Drupal development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience developing and maintaining Drupal 10 websites.
- Advanced proficiency in PHP, Symfony, Twig, Composer, and Drush.
- Experience building custom Drupal modules and themes.
- Strong understanding of Drupal entities, fields, content types, Views, and configuration management.
- Experience with MySQL or MariaDB.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive web development.
- Experience integrating third-party systems using REST APIs or JSON:API.
- Experience with Git version control and collaborative development workflows.
- Knowledge of Drupal core and contributed module updates, security patching, and vulnerability remediation.
- Experience troubleshooting and optimizing Drupal application performance.
- Familiarity with WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility requirements.
- Ability to work independently and complete assigned development tasks.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
- Acquia Certified Drupal Developer or equivalent certification.
- Hands-on Drupal 11 development experience.
- Experience migrating Drupal 7, 8, or 9 websites to Drupal 10 or 11.
- Experience using Drupal Migrate API, Migrate Plus, and Migrate Tools.
- Experience with GitLab CI/CD and automated deployments.
- Knowledge of AWS, Linux, Apache, and Nginx.
- Experience configuring Redis, Apache Solr, Varnish, or CDN caching.
- Experience developing multilingual websites.
- Familiarity with SAML, OAuth 2.0, and enterprise authentication systems.
- Experience with automated testing and application security tools.
- Experience supporting educational, government, or enterprise websites.
- Experience maintaining multiple independent Drupal installations.
Additional Requirements
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a skilled, hands-on Drupal developer capable of independently developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting complex Drupal applications.
The candidate should demonstrate practical experience with custom modules, theming, integrations, migrations, and ongoing website maintenance.
Preference will be given to applicants who can provide examples of personally developed functionality, explain technical implementation decisions, and demonstrate measurable project accomplishments.
Work Arrangement
- Remote, project-based development and maintenance.
- Coordination with LABUSA personnel during US Central Time business hours.
- Work within LABUSA-managed Linux development and staging environments.
- Access through approved remote workspace or VPN technologies.
- All source code maintained in authorized repositories.
- Participation in scheduled releases, testing, maintenance, and incident response as required.
- Contract duration and extensions depend on project needs.
