LABUSA is seeking Senior Red Hat Linux Systems Engineers (Enterprise Linux Infrastructure Specialists) for advanced Linux administration, automation, and security in enterprise IT.
The position involves supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Oracle Linux, virtualization platforms, container technologies, automated configuration management, and mission-critical infrastructure services, including troubleshooting and operational support.
The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in maintaining, securing, optimizing, and troubleshooting enterprise Linux systems while supporting infrastructure modernization, system automation, and operational continuity.
This is a primarily remote, project-based opportunity with occasional international travel. LABUSA welcomes applications from experienced independent contractors and Linux infrastructure professionals with valid Red Hat certifications and demonstrated enterprise support experience.
Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, configure, and troubleshoot enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments, including RHEL 6, 7, 8, and 9.
- Support Oracle Linux and other Unix/Linux operating systems, including Oracle Solaris where applicable.
- Perform operating system installations, upgrades, migrations, patching, configuration, and security hardening.
- Diagnose and resolve complex Linux operating system, application, network, storage, and infrastructure issues.
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python and Bash.
- Implement automated infrastructure configuration and deployment using Ansible and Puppet.
- Configure and maintain automated Linux provisioning using Kickstart.
- Support enterprise Linux lifecycle management, patching, and provisioning using Red Hat Satellite.
- Deploy, administer, and troubleshoot containerized applications using Docker and Podman.
- Configure and support Apache HTTP Server and Apache Tomcat application environments.
- Administer and troubleshoot Linux virtual machines running on VMware vSphere and Red Hat KVM.
- Support infrastructure-as-code and deployment automation using Terraform and related technologies.
- Assist with AWS-hosted Linux infrastructure and hybrid cloud environments.
- Support enterprise storage, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
- Troubleshoot LDAP, DNS, email services, network connectivity, and related infrastructure components.
- Implement Linux security best practices, access controls, vulnerability remediation, and configuration hardening.
- Monitor infrastructure health, availability, capacity, and performance using enterprise monitoring tools.
- Investigate production incidents, perform root-cause analysis, and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support change management, system maintenance, and operational improvement activities.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, configuration records, operating procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Collaborate with LABUSA project management personnel, infrastructure specialists, and technical teams.
- Participate in technical meetings, operational reviews, and knowledge-transfer sessions.
- Provide remote technical support and occasional onsite assistance requiring international travel.
Skills and Qualifications
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Minimum five years of demonstrated professional experience administering enterprise Red Hat Enterprise Linux systems.
- Valid Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification or an accepted RHCSA-level equivalent.
- At least five years of relevant experience and participation in a minimum of three projects involving Python and/or Bash scripting, Puppet and/or Ansible configuration management, and Kickstart provisioning.
- At least three years of relevant experience and participation in a minimum of three projects involving Docker and/or Podman container technologies and Apache HTTP Server and/or Apache Tomcat.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise Linux architecture, administration, system services, networking, storage, and security.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex production Linux environments.
- Experience with Linux installation, patch management, upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, and system recovery.
- Ability to develop and maintain technical scripts, automation workflows, and configuration management processes.
- Experience supporting mission-critical systems requiring high availability, reliability, and security.
- Strong technical documentation, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with distributed technical teams.
- Willingness and ability to undertake occasional international travel.
Preferred Qualifications
- Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) or other advanced Red Hat certifications.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience administering Red Hat Satellite and enterprise Linux lifecycle management platforms.
- Experience with Oracle Linux and Oracle Solaris.
- Advanced knowledge of VMware vSphere and Red Hat KVM virtualization.
- Experience with AWS services, Terraform, and AWS Lambda.
- Experience supporting Kubernetes, Amazon EKS, and enterprise container orchestration.
- Experience with Veritas NetBackup, NetApp, and network-attached storage (NAS).
- Knowledge of F5 load balancing and application delivery technologies.
- Experience with LDAP, DNS, enterprise email systems, and identity management.
- Experience implementing HashiCorp Vault for secrets management.
- Experience using Prometheus and Grafana for infrastructure monitoring.
- Knowledge of Git, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps methodologies.
- Experience with infrastructure automation, configuration compliance, and security hardening.
- ITIL Foundation certification or practical experience with ITIL-based service management.
- Experience supporting enterprise disaster recovery and business continuity environments.
- Previous experience supporting government agencies, international organizations, large enterprises, or other mission-critical IT environments.
Additional Requirements
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a highly experienced, Red Hat-certified Linux infrastructure professional capable of independently administering and troubleshooting complex enterprise Linux environments.
The candidate should possess strong practical experience in infrastructure automation, configuration management, virtualization, container technologies, and Linux security.
The successful professional will be comfortable supporting production-critical infrastructure, diagnosing complex technical problems, implementing reliable automation, and communicating effectively with geographically distributed technical teams.
Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate broad enterprise infrastructure expertise, advanced Red Hat certifications, strong project references, and flexibility to provide both remote and occasional onsite technical support.
Work Arrangement
- Primarily remote technical support with occasional onsite assignments.
- International travel may be required based on project and operational needs.

- Availability for project-based assignments and potential contract extensions.
