Where access control goes wrong
Access control fails less often as hardware than as administration. The lock works; the list of who may open it has stopped being accurate.
- Credentials outlive people. Nobody owns the process of removing access when a role ends, so the population of valid credentials only grows.
- Permissions are per door, not per role. Every change is a manual edit somewhere, so changes stop being made.
- Events are not reviewed. The system logs everything and nobody reads it, so a pattern is only found after an incident.
- Alarms are ignored. False alarms train staff to dismiss them, and the real one is dismissed the same way.

Licensed security contractor
LABUSA is a Texas DPS Licensed Security Contractor, License No. B20248. Physical security work in Texas requires a licensed contractor, and LABUSA holds that license directly.
Federal physical security experience
LABUSA implemented integrated physical security for a high security federal research environment, using intrusion detection, access control, video surveillance, alarm monitoring, secure communications and the system integration between them.
Hospitality at scale
LABUSA has delivered video surveillance and structured cabling services for hospitality environments, with solutions offered through a hotel and lodging association network representing nearly 5,000 hotel properties.
